I have dreamt of living in Europe since I was 18 years old.
But the Europe I dreamt of wasn't modern and hip and ultra techy like much of Helsinki--it was old.
Really old.
Like peeling paint, crumbling bricks, cobblestone-streets-so-narrow-you-can't-drive-a-car-down-'em old.
So when we arrived in Sweden, I thought to myself "this is the Europe I always dreamed of."
We were warned that we would find Stockholm breathtakingly beautiful...and old.
And it did not disappoint.
Beautiful pictures! I have yet to visit Stockholm, but it is absolutely on my to-do-list. Glad it didn't disappoint!
ReplyDeleteStockholm is great. You going has made us want to go too. But there is a difference between Scandinavia and Europe. Europe begins in Copenhagen. I never believed the statement till I got there....Try and pick cheap flights and have a long weekend in one of the true European cities...Around Baltic you can see traces of Hansa trade everywhere, but beyond that it is a different word. Do Tallinna too, the old town will please you.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely breathtaking. WOW. I just love the colours, and those narrow streets. Wow, again.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! And I have to think that is what most people see in their imaginations when they think of Europe ... old buildings, beautiful architecture, cobble stone streets. How wonderful that you get to explore such interesting places while on vacation : )
